Joanna Lanz holds Board Certifications as a Certified Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Joanna has earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Colorado at Boulder, an associate degree in nursing from the Community College of Rhode Island, a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Rhode Island, and a master of science in nursing from Catholic University of America.
Joanna was drawn to the field of orthopedics as a collegiate swimmer, when she discovered proper biomechanics can affect musculoskeletal health. Joanna’s specialties include work in our Ortho RI Express Clinic, assisting patients with same- and next-day appointments. Joanna enjoys the high-energy setting of our Express clinics, which focus on quickly assessing and identifying orthopedic problems to help provide prompt and seamless follow-up with the assistance of the team of Ortho Rhode Island providers. In addition to her work in Express, Joanna is a provider with our Bone Health Clinic, helping patients who have sustained fractures heal more quickly and developing treatment plans to help reduce the risk of future fractures.
Prior to her work in orthopedics, her nursing experience also includes work in joint replacements, neurosurgery, and emergency medicine.
Outside of her time with patients, Joanna enjoys yoga, skiing, surfing, and spending time with her daughter and her German shepherd.
