Orthopedic Specialties: Rheumatology

Rheumatology at Ortho Rhode Island focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of different musculoskeletal and systemic autoimmune diseases known as rheumatic diseases. These ailments not only affect the bones, joints, muscles, and soft tissues, but can also affect various internal organs including the eyes, skin, kidneys, nerves, heart, and lungs. For example, there are over 100 different types of arthritis and we specialize in many of these conditions.

Our Approach

Our rheumatology practice is patient-centered, relying on a thorough history and physical exam, blood tests, and diagnostic imaging studies to make a diagnosis. Once you have been diagnosed, we will work with you to provide recommendations on the best treatment options. We follow our patients closely to monitor progress, and adjust treatment as needed.

Rheumatology at Ortho Rhode Island offers nonsurgical treatment. If surgery is required, we work together with our orthopedists in order to help control disease activity, and to ensure the best possible surgical outcomes.

Leadership in Innovation

We believe the marriage of technology and medicine leads to safer, more effective treatment for healthier, happier patients. As a leader in emerging orthopedic technology, Ortho Rhode Island is pioneering state-of-the-art orthopedic tools and techniques.
